25 most promising scale-ups in Switzerland

16.09.2020 07:15 Isabelle Mitchell

Meet Switzerland’s scale-ups with the most potential: A jury of 25 growth investors has chosen 25 fast-growing Swiss startups that were incorporated before January 1, 2015, and represent the future Swiss unicorns.

As startups cannot appear in the TOP 100 for more than five years after incorporation, many promising startups disappear from the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Ranking eventually. To extend the spotlight provided by the TOP 100, a jury of 25 growth investors was asked to select the TOP 25 scale-ups. These companies, aged five years or more, kept the momentum they had as TOP 100 early-stage startups and continued to impress with strong growth potential.

So far, Switzerland has not been rich in unicorns (startup companies with a value of more than USD 1 billion). But among the 25 fastest growing startups founded between 2010 and 2014, there are several potential unicorn candidates: for example, Sophia Genetics from Lausanne, which develops data analysis for medical treatments and even managed to attract former US vice-president Al Gore as an investor, and sports shoe manufacturer On, which has Roger Federer as an investor.
