ETH spinoff Gravis Robotics has closed a USD 23 million round to advance its international expansion. The company develops autonomous systems for heavy construction machinery, aiming to raise performance on job sites while improving safety and reducing rework. The new capital will support growth in the UK, US and EU, alongside team expansion and a broader network of partners across equipment manufacturers, contractors and dealers.

Gravis Robotics has raised USD 23 million in a round co-led by IQ Capital and Zacua Ventures. The funding will support its global rollout, team growth and an expanded network of partners.

The company provides retrofit kits that turn excavators and loaders into autonomous machines using AI, sensors, LiDAR, cameras and GNSS. Its learning-based control system adapts to real ground conditions through hydraulic and sensor data, allowing equipment to adjust in real time. This system works with Gravis Slate, a tablet interface designed to fit into construction workflows and feed continuous data back into the platform.

The technology supports a range of tasks, including trenching, grading and material handling. Gravis aims to support crews rather than replace them and reports up to 30% higher output, reduced rework and improved safety.

Gravis collaborates with organisations such as Holcim, Taylor Woodrow, HD Hyundai and Sindall Construction, with deployments across the UK, US, EU, LATAM and Asia. Led by CEO Ryan Luke Johns and CTO Dominic Jud, the company plans to scale further in Europe as its launchpad for wider international deployment.
