The 100 most innovative and promising Swiss startups are picked by a panel of 100 leading investors and industry experts and are revealed at the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award. This year, the Robotics sector has 4 representative startups in the TOP 100 Swiss startup ranking (including 1 in the TOP 10 and 4 in the scale-up ranking). We have also talked with Nanja Strecker, Managing Director of the ESA Business Incubation Centre Switzerland and TOP 100 jury member, about the sector insights. Learn more about how these Robotics companies are shaping the future of automation and technology.

The annual ranking of the TOP 100 Swiss Startups has become a benchmark in Switzerland’s startup ecosystem—and beyond. Every year, a panel of 100 leading investors and startup experts chooses the 100 most innovative and promising Swiss startups. Each jury member nominates 10 Swiss startups that are fewer than five years old and show the greatest commercial potential. They assign 10 points for the first place and one point for the tenth place. The companies with the most points make it into the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Ranking.

The shortage of skilled labor is driving the number of industrial robots installed worldwide to reach record levels each year. What has a long tradition in manufacturing - the automation of routine tasks - is now also reaching the service industries. „We are seeing more and more robots and drones that are designed for a specific area of application,“ explains Nanja Strecker, Managing Director of the ESA Business Incubation Centre Switzerland. The maintenance drones from Voliro, for example, are able to exert torque and the inspection drones from Flybotix can find their way in places where humans can hardly get to or only at risk. According to Strecker, the next big step in robotics will be everyday interaction between machines and humans, for example in the field of autonomous mobility. There is still a lack of applications for the mass market, but the expert is convinced: „That will change“.
